Sardinia launches 12-million-euro tourism infrastructure program

The Sardinia Region has signed a memorandum of understanding titled ‘Le Porte della Sardegna’ (The Gates of Sardinia) to upgrade key entry points to the island. The program, coordinated by the Regional Tourism Department, aims to improve the aesthetic and functional quality of major airports and ports to enhance the tourist experience.

Funded by the 2021/2027 Cohesion Development Fund (FSC), the initiative has a total budget of 12 million euros. The project involves ten municipalities, including Alghero, Cagliari, Elmas, Golfo Aranci, Olbia, Oristano, Porto Torres, Santa Giusta, Santa Teresa Gallura, and Tortolì. Improvements will focus on access roads, parking areas, street furniture, greenery, and lighting.

In Oristano, specifically, 666,666 euros will be allocated to requalify the area between via del Porto, provincial road 56, and via Messina. This project aims to transform a major urban entry point into a more welcoming and organized space. All interventions under this program are scheduled for completion by 2030.
