Sardinia to expand See and Treat nursing model
Sardinia is planning to expand the ‘See and Treat’ nursing model across the region following successful ten-month trials at the San Francesco Hospital in Nuoro. This model empowers nurses to independently manage patients with low-complexity issues, aiming to reduce waiting times and alleviate the workload in emergency departments.
The service in Nuoro has recently expanded its operating hours from six to twelve hours daily, running from 8:00 to 20:00. Due to these encouraging results, the regional health department intends to extend the project to other local socio-sanitary agencies. Training for operators in Oristano is scheduled to begin in late November, with other health authorities already requesting support to implement the project.
