Sardinia water infrastructure: Call for 70 million euro investment
Michele Pais, a Lega councilor and former President of the Regional Council, is calling for a coordinated effort between the mayors of Alghero and Sassari to secure regional water infrastructure funding. Pais is advocating for at least 70 million euros to be allocated from the 230 million euros recently returned by Abbanoa to the Sardinia Region. He argues these funds should be used for an extraordinary plan to modernize and strengthen water networks in Northwest Sardinia, focusing on replacing obsolete systems and reducing water loss.
In a related administrative development, the Municipality of Sassari has authorized a payment of over 10,000 euros to Abbanoa Spa. This expenditure covers water utility costs for the city's Environment and Public Green sector and is scheduled to be settled by the end of the year.
