Sardinian emigrants organize new federation in Florence

The Seu federation, representing Sardinian emigrants, is hosting its founding congress, ‘Bentu Nou’, in Florence from October 23 to 25. The event aims to establish a new framework for organized emigration, uniting 26 circles across seven Italian regions.

The congress seeks to transform the concept of belonging into active participation by connecting different generations, including those who left the island, their descendants, and current students or professionals moving away. Key objectives include electing leadership and defining a three-year strategic plan.

A central goal of the movement is to reform emigration legislation and establish consultative bodies that represent the needs of the diaspora. The federation is calling for a stable dialogue with Sardinian regional institutions, specifically highlighting the need for improved transportation to maintain physical links between the island and its emigrant communities.
