Formation of the Sardi Emigrati Uniti federation
Overview
Sardinian emigrants organized a founding congress, titled ‘Bentu Nou’, in Florence from October 23 to 25, 2026. The event aimed to establish the Seu federation, uniting 26 circles across seven Italian regions to create a framework for organized emigration and reform emigration legislation.
The movement seeks to connect different generations of the diaspora and establish consultative bodies to represent their needs. A key objective includes fostering dialogue with Sardinian regional institutions to improve transportation and maintain physical links between the island and its emigrant communities.
Following the congress, Sara Nicole Cancedda, a lawyer from Gonnosnò, was officially confirmed as the president of Sardi Emigrati Uniti (SEU). She will lead a newly elected administrative body for a three-year term. The leadership intends to integrate first- and second-generation Sardinians, specifically targeting members under 35, to strengthen cultural and social ties. Regional Councilor for Labor and Emigration Desirè Manca expressed the region’s willingness to collaborate with the new federation.
