Sardinian film festivals highlight local and international cinema
Several film festivals and screenings are scheduled to showcase cinema in Sardinia, Italy. The second edition of the Gavoi Film Fest will take place from September 24 to 27 in the Barbagia region. Organized by the Sardinia Pro Arte association, the event focuses on the theme “The changing society: memories, identities, conflicts and new balances.” The festival will feature feature films, documentaries, shorts, and animations from Italy, France, Serbia, and the United Kingdom, with a specific emphasis on Sardinian authors and professionals.
Additionally, the Visioni Sarde festival, which focuses on young Sardinian cinema, will hold a screening in Escovedu on September 24. Organized by the Usellus Municipal Library in collaboration with the Escovedu in Movimento Cultural Association, the event will showcase works such as the animated short “Ajò West!” by Sara Corbioli and experimental films like “Brigas” by Lorenzo Spinelli and “Mamma” by Matteo Martinez. The evening will conclude with a public award for the best film of the series.
