Sardinian ports Alghero and Trapani lack clear development strategies

The regional party Riformatori Sardi criticised the Alghero port, stating it has become "just a parking lot for boats" and suffers from a long‑standing absence of a development plan. The party blamed local authorities and the port consortium for failing to promote a modern marina that could generate tourism, jobs and services, warning that the port’s competitiveness is deteriorating.

In Trapani, the municipality approved the conversion of an unused former Guardia di Finanza building near the harbor into the "Centro per la Cultura del Mare – Trapani for Peace". The centre will be managed by third‑sector organisations to host cultural, educational and peace‑building activities linked to the sea. Mayor Giacomo Tranchida called it "the first step to return to the city a strategic space close to the sea, open to the community" and linked the project to the city’s UNESCO biosphere candidacy and broader waterfront regeneration.
