Sarh children craft beadwork to fund school expenses

In Sarh, located in the Moyen-Chari province of Chad, children aged 7 to 15 are engaging in a beadwork initiative to fund their upcoming 2026-2027 school year. Under the guidance of Krata Koulngar Eugénie at the Maison Euro Koul Art, these young artisans spent one month learning to craft various items, including handbags, belts, pen holders, and wallets.

To generate income, the students sell their creations in local markets, streets, and public institutions. Prices for these items range from 3,500 CFA francs for basic goods to between 30,000 and 50,000 CFA francs for sophisticated, custom-made pieces.

Student leader Radjianouba Christelle noted that the project provides both practical vocational skills and increased self-confidence. The earnings are intended to help families cover the costs of school supplies, uniforms, and other educational expenses. Christelle also encouraged other local youth to pursue similar income-generating activities during their holidays.
