Sashastra Seema Bal reserves 50% of constable posts for ex‑Agniveers

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Constable (General Duty) recruitment rules 2026, published in the Gazette on 27 July 2026 and effective immediately. The rules set 54,109 posts for 2026, with half of the positions reserved exclusively for former Agniveers (ex‑Agniveers).

Ex‑Agniveers are exempted from the written examination, the Physical Standard Test and the Physical Efficiency Test, and receive an age relaxation of up to five years for the first batch and three years for subsequent batches. The remaining 50% of the posts will be filled through an open competitive exam. Selected candidates will receive Level‑3 salary ranging from ₹21,700 to ₹69,100 per month.
