Saskatchewan crop report shows slow harvest progress

Agricultural reports from Saskatchewan indicate that crop development continues across the province, though weather conditions have had varying impacts on progress. Cooler temperatures have recently slowed harvest operations, which currently stand at approximately two per cent completion. This rate is slightly ahead of last year but remains below the five-year and ten-year averages.

While scattered showers provided localized moisture in areas such as Milden and Chesterfield, much of the province remains dry. Topsoil moisture levels vary significantly; while some regions report adequate moisture, a substantial portion of cropland, hayland, and pasture is rated as short or very short.

Early-seeded crops are nearing maturity, and in some areas, warm and dry conditions have accelerated their development. Producers are monitoring later-seeded crops closely, as additional precipitation may be necessary to support the grain-filling stage.
