Saskatchewan police address surge of 60+ calls and dangerous driving arrests

The Battlefords RCMP detachment reported receiving more than 60 calls for service between the evening of July 29 and the early morning of July 30, describing the shift as one of the busiest of the summer. Calls included serious assaults at a residence on Sweetgrass First Nation and at a park in North Battleford, resulting in two injuries and the arrest of a suspect. Officers also responded to four additional assaults, three vehicle thefts, numerous disturbances of the peace, and located a missing person safely.

In a separate incident near Regina, a dangerous‑driving stop on Highway 11 involved both the RCMP and the Regina Police Service. After the vehicle was stopped by the RCMP, a male driver fled, was apprehended with the aid of a police dog, and was charged by the RCMP. The female passenger, who took over the wheel when the vehicle entered Regina police jurisdiction, was arrested by the Regina Police Service and faces a charge of fleeing a police officer. Both suspects are awaiting court appearances.
