Saskatchewan RCMP charges 30 people and solves 23 homicides in 2025

The Saskatchewan Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) investigated 34 homicide files involving 40 victims in 2025, most of which occurred within its jurisdiction. The force solved 23 of those cases and laid charges against 30 individuals, including eight first‑degree murder charges, 18 second‑degree murder charges and four manslaughter charges. Eleven files remain under investigation.

Inspector Ashley St. Germaine, acting officer of the RCMP Major Crimes Branch, said investigators provide extensive collaboration and support to victims’ families, noting that much of the work happens behind the scenes. By early 2026 the RCMP had opened 21 new homicide cases with 21 victims, charging 15 of them while six cases stay open.

The RCMP highlighted the involvement of specialized units such as forensic identification, digital forensics and the Serious Crimes Unit in handling these investigations.
