Saskatchewan RCMP reports 31 fatal impaired‑driving crashes in 2025

The Saskatchewan Royal Canadian Mounted Police recorded 31 fatal motor‑vehicle collisions and 82 serious crashes involving alcohol or drug impairment during 2025, the highest number in a decade. Police charged 1,650 people with impaired‑driving offences and suspended the licences of 2,270 drivers for consuming substances before operating a vehicle.

Superintendent Grant St. Germaine noted a steady rise in such incidents since 2016 and said the force is expanding check stops, road‑safety initiatives, patrols and driver‑education programs. Authorities urged the public to plan safe rides, buckle up, avoid cell‑phone use while driving and report suspected impaired drivers, especially ahead of upcoming long‑weekend travel.
