Saskatchewan Roughriders evaluate kicking competition
The Saskatchewan Roughriders are evaluating potential changes to their kicking position ahead of their Week 11 matchup against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Rookie Dawson Hodge has been introduced to provide competition for current kicker Alex Hale.
Hale, an Australian player, has recorded a 73.7 per cent success rate this season, converting 14 of 19 field goal attempts. While he has shown flashes of consistency, including perfect performances against Toronto and Ottawa, his accuracy from 40 yards or longer has been a point of focus.
During recent practices, Hodge was subjected to high-pressure drills designed to simulate game conditions, including loud music and distractions from teammates and coaching staff. Head coach Corey Mace stated that a final decision regarding the lineup will be made at the end of the week.
