Saskatoon overdose rise prompts naloxone training for students

Dozens of university students in Saskatoon are learning how to administer naloxone as overdoses continue to rise after the closure of Prairie Harm Reduction.

The Saskatoon Fire Department reported a stark and significant increase in overdoses in 2025, with crews responding to almost double the number of calls compared to 2024.

Together, the reports illustrate ongoing community responses, including student education and frontline emergency responses amid the local overdose trend.
