During a spell of extreme heat in Sassari, Italy, with temperatures reaching close to 40 °C, police officers from the Questura's Prevention and Public Rescue Unit responded to a 112 emergency call from an 82‑year‑old woman whose home water system had failed. The failure left her unable to bathe ahead of a medical appointment. Officers repaired the faulty electrical cable to the system’s float, restored water flow, and retrieved additional water from a well to provide a short‑term supply.

Regional weather services forecast that the heat will intensify on 12 July, with interior areas of Sardinia expected to exceed 41 °C and no rainfall anticipated. Authorities advise residents, especially those in inland zones, to limit outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.
