Italian police carry out road clean‑up, drug raids and bike‑patrol operations
A series of police actions took place across Italy in recent days.
In Sardinia, a truck lost its load of glass shards on the Sassari‑Olbia highway near Berchidda, blocking the road and prompting fire crews and ANAS workers to clear the dangerous debris.
In Alghero, Carabinieri deployed electric bicycles for the first time, conducting intensified patrols in the historic centre, port area and waterfront, identifying 91 people and checking 47 vehicles, and reporting two individuals found with small amounts of marijuana.
In Giugliano in Campania, police arrested an 18‑year‑old after discovering multiple packages of hashish and marijuana, along with €3,480 in cash, during a routine control.
A large anti‑drug operation between Cagliari and Selargius resulted in eleven searches, seizures of cash, drugs and equipment, and the arrest of a 24‑year‑old found with cocaine, precision scales and a pistol.
In Taurisano, a police patrol stopped a fleeing vehicle and uncovered crack hidden in the driver’s mouth, leading to the arrest of a 23‑year‑old and seizure of €600.
Separately, police from the Sassari patrol intervened on the Ponte di Rosello after a 112 call reported a young man threatening suicide; officers engaged with him, secured his safety and prevented a possible fatal act.
