Sassnitz hosts SailGP event and inclusive regatta

The Rockwool Germany Sail Grand Prix is set to take place in Sassnitz on August 22 and 23. Organizers expect over 13,000 spectators at the Rügen-Arena, following a successful premiere last year. The event features 13 teams competing for a prize pool of $800,000, with top performers aiming for a spot in the season finale.

Running parallel to the main event is the SailGP Inclusive Regatta, starting August 18. This competition allows athletes with and without disabilities to compete in the same boats under identical rules. Sixteen crews from Belgium, Germany, Norway, and the Czech Republic will participate using eight accessible RS Venture Connect boats. The inclusive event is supported by the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and various foundations.
