SailGP and inclusive regatta in Sassnitz
Overview
The town of Sassnitz on Germany’s Baltic coast is set to host the ROCKWOOL Germany Sail Grand Prix and an inclusive SailGP regatta in August 2026.
The inclusive regatta, part of the Heinz-Kettler-Deutschland-Cup, begins on August 18 and features 16 crews from Belgium, Germany, Norway, and the Czech Republic. This event allows able-bodied and disabled athletes to compete together in the same boats under identical rules using eight accessible RS Venture Connect boats. Notable participants include Paralympic gold-medallist Siggi Mainka and visually-impaired sailor Sophia.
The main SailGP event is scheduled for August 22 and 23 at the Rügen-Arena. Organizers expect more than 13,000 spectators for the competition, which features 13 teams vying for an $800,000 prize pool.
