Sassuolo unveils Arnia food‑waste recovery hub

The municipality of Sassuolo presented a new protocol at City Hall, attended by Mayor Matteo Mesini and Vice‑Mayor Serena Lenzotti. The agreement between AVIS Sassuolo and the non‑profit Associazione Il Melograno creates the “Arnia – La Dispensa del Distretto” hub, aimed at recovering edible food surpluses and turning them into a community resource.

Located at Via Adige 1, the hub has operated for two years, collecting surplus food from companies, retailers and large‑scale distribution. The recovered products support third‑sector organisations, help feed donors after blood or plasma donation, and are made available to charities, parishes, summer‑camps and sports clubs. The project is financed by the Sassuolo municipality and welcomes further collaborations with local social‑service entities.
