Satte City to host digital stamp rally featuring local yokai
Satte City in Saitama Prefecture is launching the ‘Satte Yokai Daisakusen’ project, a community-driven initiative to revitalize the area through local folklore. Following a call for submissions between July and August 2026, 150 unique yokai (supernatural creatures) were designed by residents and creators, including the use of generative AI to reimagine the traditional local legend of ‘Neroha’.
From October 12 to October 25, 2026, the city will host a digital stamp rally. Participants can use their smartphones to visit 11 designated ‘yokai spots’ located around Satte Station and the central shopping district. By collecting stamps at these locations, visitors can reveal the true forms of the creatures.
Those who complete the rally by visiting all 11 spots can receive exclusive ‘Satte Yokai Neroha Trading Cards’ at the Satte Citizen Festival on October 25. The project aims to foster creativity in children and encourage residents and visitors to rediscover the charm of the city through its local history and landmarks.
