Saturn hotel food poisoning affects 58 people
A mass food poisoning incident at a hotel in the Saturn resort has affected 58 people, including 11 minors. Six individuals, including two children and one pregnant woman, were hospitalized for further investigation following symptoms of severe abdominal pain and chills.
Authorities from the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) and the Consumer Protection Agency have taken drastic measures. Following an inspection that revealed unhygienic conditions, improper food storage, and neglected refrigeration, officials seized 81 kilograms of unfit meat, fish, dairy, and eggs, along with 300 eggs. The hotel's food service area has been ordered to suspend operations, and fines totaling over 117,000 lei have been issued.
Investigations revealed that the hotel had been inspected just three days prior and fined for similar hygiene and storage violations, but the management had failed to rectify the issues. The hotel's head chef has denied responsibility, suggesting the illness was caused by guests consuming cold drinks.
