Saturn (Shani) Sade Sati Remedies Recommended for Saturday Worship

Hindu tradition describes Shani (Saturn) as the deity who dispenses the results of karma and judges deeds. The astrological period known as Sade Sati, when Shani traverses the natal moon, is believed to bring economic and personal hardships. Religious guidance from both Indian and Pakistani Hindu communities advises specific Saturday practices to lessen these effects.

Key recommendations include chanting a set of Shani mantras—such as “ॐ शं शनैश्चराय नमः” and the seed mantra “ॐ प्रां प्रीं प्रौं सः शनैश्चराय नमः”—108 times on Saturday. Rituals also involve bathing, offering water to the root of a peepal tree and circumambulating it seven times, donating items like black sesame, urad dal, jaggery and mustard oil, and performing worship of Hanuman (Bajrang Bali). These actions are said to invoke Shani’s favor and reduce the negative influence of Sade Sati.
