Saudi Arabia activates warning sirens in Abha and Khamis Mushait

Saudi authorities activated warning sirens in the southwestern cities of Abha and Khamis Mushait on Wednesday as a precautionary measure against a potential threat. Although the National Early Warning Platform issued alerts and the Civil Defense urged residents to remain calm, the danger was declared resolved shortly after without officials specifying the exact nature of the threat.

This incident follows reports from Tuesday stating that Houthi militia attacks on economic facilities in four Saudi cities resulted in 73 civilian injuries, including women and children. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned these strikes on civilian and economic assets in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran, noting that the attacks caused fires and temporary shutdowns in some energy sector facilities.

The Houthi military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, claimed responsibility for targeting Aramco facilities and an airbase using ballistic missiles and drones. The group alleged that the strikes hit locations in Abha, Najran, Jizan, and the Khamis Mushait airbase. These developments occur amid ongoing military escalation in Yemen and continued Houthi targeting of commercial vessels in the Red Sea.
