Heat wave grips Egypt, Morocco and Saudi Arabia in mid‑July 2026

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority warned of a hot, humid spell on July 15‑16, 2026, with daytime temperatures reaching 42‑43 °C in the south and humidity raising the "feels‑like" temperature by 2‑4 °C. Light morning fog was forecast for northern routes and the coast, and wind warnings were issued for several beaches, with sea waves expected up to 2 m.

Morocco’s Directorate General of Meteorology predicted a generally hot day across the southeast, eastern region, and interior valleys, with low temperatures between 22‑30 °C and higher daytime temperatures nationwide. Moderate to strong wind gusts and occasional dust were noted, while thin cloud cover and light drizzle were possible in the Atlantic coastal zones.

Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology reported active winds and a heightened chance of thunderstorms over parts of Jazan, Asir, Al‑Baha and the southern Mecca highlands. Maximum temperatures were expected to stay high in the eastern provinces and extend to Riyadh. Sea conditions ranged from light to moderate waves along the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf.

All three countries are advised to exercise caution while driving during early‑morning fog and to follow beach safety instructions due to the combined heat and wind conditions.
