Saudi Arabia East-West pipeline hit by attack on Khurais station

The Saudi Arabian East-West pipeline, a critical piece of energy infrastructure, was recently targeted in an attack on a pumping station located in Khurais, east of Riyadh. This specific facility had not been targeted in previous incidents.

While the attack caused significant damage and briefly halted operations, reports indicate that oil flows have since resumed and the pipeline is operating normally. The East-West link is strategically vital as it allows for the transport of crude oil from eastern production fields to the Yanbu terminal on the Red Sea, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz.

The incident occurs amid intensified fighting between Saudi-backed forces and Houthi militants in neighboring Yemen. The security of this corridor remains a high priority for regional energy stability and international trade navigation.
