Saudi Arabia executes individuals for drug smuggling and murder
The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced the execution of several individuals in the Asir and Makkah regions following judicial rulings.
In the Asir region, three Ethiopian nationals—Haflum Teglay Mezqebo Qara Arqwi, Hilom Kidana Qibra Selassie Aber, and Haftam Qoyitem Gushi Hadqo—were executed for their involvement in smuggling hashish into the Kingdom. The sentence was carried out on September 13, 2026, after the ruling was upheld by the Supreme Court and confirmed by a royal order.
In the Makkah region, a Myanmar national, Yassin Mohammed Ramadan Abu Al-Hussein, was executed for the murder of a Pakistani national, Abdulhamid Suleiman Abdulrashid. The execution followed a court ruling for retaliation (qisas) after the perpetrator fatally stabbed the victim with a sharp object. The Ministry emphasized its commitment to maintaining security and enforcing Sharia law against those who violate the rights of others.
