Saudi Arabia has carried out multiple executions in the Medina region related to narcotics offenses. In mid-August 2026, the Ministry of Interior announced the execution of a Saudi national, Abdulaziz bin Turabi bin Lahik al-Jabri, who was convicted of promoting hashish and controlled medical tablets. Later in the month, the government executed Idris Ibrahim, a Nigerian national, for cocaine smuggling.

On September 13, 2026, the Ministry announced further executions in the Asir and Makkah regions. In Asir, three Ethiopian nationals—Haflum Teglay Mezqebo Qara Arqwi, Hilom Kidana Qibra Selassie Aber, and Haftam Qoyitem Gushi Hadqo—were executed for smuggling hashish. In Makkah, a Myanmar national, Yassin Mohammed Ramadan Abu Al-Hussein, was executed for the murder of a Pakistani national, Abdulhamid Suleiman Abdulrashid, following a court ruling for retaliation (qisas).

On September 16, 2026, the Ministry announced two additional executions in separate murder cases. In the Eastern Province, Majdal bin Ali bin Hussein al-Majdal al-Khalidi was executed for the killing of Mohammed bin Amer bin Layl al-Khaldi by gunfire. In the Makkah region, Musab bin Abdullah bin Safar al-Abdali al-Ghamdi was executed for ‘ghilah’ (premeditated murder) after fatally stabbing his wife, Kholoud bint Mohammed bin Hamdan al-Ghamdi.

The Ministry of Interior has stated that these actions underscore a commitment to protecting citizens, maintaining security, and enforcing Sharia law, warning that those who violate the rights of others will face the “strictest legal penalties.”
