LEAP 2026: Major AI and cloud infrastructure investments announced in Saudi Arabia

The LEAP 2026 technology conference in Riyadh has served as a major platform for massive digital and AI investments in Saudi Arabia. Key announcements include AWS launching its first Cloud Infrastructure Region in the Kingdom by December 2026, and Microsoft making its Saudi Arabia East cloud region available in November 2026. These developments aim to support local data sovereignty and accelerate AI adoption in line with Vision 2030.

Strategic partnerships were a central theme. HUMAIN, a PIF-owned company, announced several collaborations, including an expanded partnership with AWS to develop an AI Zone, a collaboration with Microsoft to offer an AI productivity bundle, and a partnership with Compal to develop next-generation AI infrastructure. Additionally, Aramco Digital and Avathon announced a partnership to accelerate industrial AI, while HPE launched the ‘Saudi Made, Developed, Deployed’ initiative with Intel and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

Other notable developments include the unveiling of the Horizon Ultra AI PC by HUMAIN and Qualcomm, and the announcement of a data center project by HUMAIN and DataVolt at Oxagon in NEOM. The conference also highlighted the success of the Tawakkalna platform, which now serves over 36 million users, and the launch of the ‘Ealam’ digital platform by the Ministry of Media to unify media services.
