Saudi Arabia issues storm warning for Jazan, Asir and Al‑Baha regions
The Saudi National Center for Meteorology warned that thunderstorms will continue across the southwest, bringing heavy rain, hail and strong, dust‑raising winds. The alert covers Jazan, Asir and Al‑Baha provinces and extends to the southern highlands of Mecca. Temperatures will remain high in the Eastern Province and Riyadh region, while active winds will stir dust in parts of the Eastern Province, Riyadh, Medina, Tabuk and along the Jeddah‑Jazan coastal road.
Sea conditions are also affected. On the Red Sea, surface winds shift from north‑west to west at 12–38 km/h in the north and central zones, increasing to over 50 km/h in the south where rain clouds develop. Wave heights range from 0.5‑1.5 m in the north and central areas to more than 2 m in the southern sector. In the Arabian Gulf, surface winds blow north‑west to north at 15‑40 km/h in the north and central zones and east‑north‑east to north‑east in the south at 10‑30 km/h, with wave heights of 0.5‑1.5 m.
