Saudi Aramco warns of critical oil stocks amid regional energy shifts

Saudi Aramco CEO Amin Nasser has issued warnings regarding global energy security, noting that commercial crude oil stocks on land have fallen below 6 billion barrels. Nasser stated that replenishing these stocks to adequate levels could take up to two years. To mitigate risks associated with the Strait of Hormuz and regional tensions, Aramco is evaluating additional export routes and working to expand its overseas storage capacity.

In regional energy cooperation, Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced ongoing discussions for a large-scale electricity interconnection project involving Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Syria. Turkey and Saudi Arabia also highlighted a 5,000 megawatt renewable energy agreement signed this year. Additionally, Turkey is pursuing energy partnerships with Iraq, Libya, Uzbekistan, and Pakistan, while aiming for 20 gigawatts of nuclear energy production capacity by 2050.

Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to maintaining global energy supplies despite Middle East tensions. He noted that the East-West oil pipeline has resumed operations, reaching over 80 percent of its capacity, providing an alternative to the Strait of Hormuz.
