Saudi Arabia enters operational phase for 2027 AFC Asian Cup
Saudi Arabia has officially entered the operational phase of preparations for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. With exactly 100 days remaining until the tournament begins on January 7, 2027, the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) have transitioned from the planning stage to full operational readiness.
The tournament will feature 24 national teams competing across eight stadiums in three Saudi cities. AFC President Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa expressed confidence that the Kingdom is set to establish new standards for excellence in stadium quality and fan experience.
Mai Al-Herabi, CEO of the LOC, noted that over 50 entities are working in coordination to ensure a seamless experience for visitors. In conjunction with the 100-day countdown, the official match ball, named ‘Khuzama’ after a wild Saudi flower, has been unveiled. The tournament is scheduled to open with a match between Saudi Arabia and Palestine.
