Saudi Arabia provides 350 MW of electricity capacity to Yemen

Yemen’s Minister of Electricity and Energy, Adnan al-Kaf, announced that Saudi Arabia is providing 350 megawatts of power generation capacity to support the Yemeni electrical system. This support, part of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, aims to increase electricity supply hours and improve service stability in three key provinces.

The 350 megawatts will be distributed as follows: 200 megawatts for Hadramaut, 100 megawatts for the temporary capital, Aden, and 50 megawatts for Taiz. According to official reports, the 200-megawatt generators for Hadramaut have already arrived at the airport and are nearing integration into the grid. The first batch of generators for Aden has also arrived, with installation expected to begin shortly. Support for Taiz is scheduled for delivery in the near future.

Minister al-Kaf noted that these measures are intended to address the acute deficit in the sector and mitigate the impact of power outages on citizens. He also highlighted that the Yemeni government continues to operate from Aden under an emergency plan to manage urgent needs in basic services and energy infrastructure.
