Saudi Aramco has notified European refinery customers that crude oil allocations under long-term contracts will be suspended for October. This disruption follows drone and missile attacks on the strategic East-West Pipeline in the Riyadh and Medina regions, which forced a temporary shutdown of the facility.

The pipeline, which allows Saudi Arabia to export crude to the Red Sea port of Yanbu while bypassing the Strait of Hormuz, is undergoing repairs. While partial operations may resume within days, full capacity restoration is expected to take approximately six weeks.

In response to the supply uncertainty, European energy companies are seeking alternative sources. Poland’s Orlen SA has already secured 16 additional oil supplies from producers in Norway, Britain, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and the Americas. Orlen has stated that the continuity of operations for its refineries in Poland, the Czech Republic, and Lithuania remains unthreatened.
