Saudi drama prepares major Ramadan productions

Saudi television is preparing several major productions for upcoming Ramadan seasons. The series ‘Al-Sahira’ (The Witch) is scheduled for release in Ramadan 2027. Produced by Kallila, the thriller is inspired by a real-life case from Al-Qurayyat involving Amina bint Abdulhalim bin Salem Nassar, who was executed in 2011 following a judicial ruling related to sorcery. The series, starring Lubna Abdulaziz and directed by Majdi Al-Sumairi from a script by Farouq Al-Shuaibi, aims to explore the human, social, and psychological dimensions of the case.

Additionally, the popular series ‘Shar’e Al-Asha’ is returning for a third season. Following the success of its previous installments, the production faces the challenge of maintaining narrative momentum after the departure of a central character, ‘Wadha,’ played by Ilham Ali. The series is noted for its historical documentation of social and economic transformations in old neighborhoods, contributing to the growing influence of Saudi drama within the Gulf and Arab regions.
