Saudi Arabian television drama expansion

Overview

Saudi Arabia is expanding its television and drama production landscape with several major upcoming projects.

Preparations are underway for the Ramadan 2027 season, including the thriller ‘Al-Sahira’ (The Witch), which is inspired by a real-life 2011 judicial case involving sorcery in Al-Qurayyat. Additionally, the series ‘Shar’e Al-Asha’ is returning for a third season, continuing its documentation of social and economic transformations in old neighborhoods.

Furthering international collaboration, Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, announced the completion of filming for ‘Al Amir’ (The Prince). This production, a collaboration between Sela Studios and MBC Shahid, features an international cast including actors from Egypt, Turkey, Spain, and the United Kingdom. The series, which follows an Egyptian officer infiltrating secret conflict networks, is scheduled for release on the Shahid digital platform in 2027.
