Saudi IT Minister holds AI and investment talks in Silicon Valley

Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah bin Amer Alswaha, conducted a series of high-level meetings in Silicon Valley, California, to strengthen the Kingdom’s partnerships in artificial intelligence, advanced computing, and digital infrastructure.

During the visit, Alswaha met with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to discuss expanding partnerships in advanced models and leveraging computing capabilities to support large-scale AI operations. Discussions with Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell focused on accelerating the adoption of enterprise AI solutions and knowledge transfer to support national digital transformation.

In the realm of software engineering, the Minister met with Cognition AI CEO Scott Wu to explore autonomous software engineering solutions. Additionally, meetings with Solidigm’s Kyle Fuocka addressed advanced storage solutions for data centers. On the investment front, Alswaha engaged with Social Capital CEO Chamath Palihapitiya, Andreessen Horowitz co-founder Ben Horowitz, and Sequoia Capital partner Alfred Lin to attract global venture capital to Saudi Arabia’s growing tech ecosystem and support local startups.
