Saudi-led coalition vows unprecedented response to Houthi threats

The leadership of the Saudi‑backed Arab coalition announced that it will meet any Houthi threat to Saudi Arabia or Yemeni sovereignty with "unprecedented force and resolve." In a statement issued on Friday, spokesperson Major General Turki al‑Maliki said the Houthis' recent hostile remarks were an attempt to divert attention from their violations against the Yemeni people and to export their internal crises to the region.

The coalition warned that any action targeting Saudi security, its citizens, national assets, or the sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen would be repelled "in full compliance with international humanitarian law and customary rules of warfare." The statement reiterated the coalition’s commitment to supporting the internationally recognised Yemeni government, backing political roadmaps, and countering Houthi attacks on maritime routes, ports and infrastructure in the Red Sea and Bab al‑Mandab.

No specific military operation was detailed, but the warning underscores the heightened tension between the coalition and the Houthi movement and signals a potential escalation if the threats materialise.
