Saudi Ministry of Municipalities and Housing completes 200,000m of drainage networks

The Saudi Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has completed over 200,000 linear meters of stormwater drainage networks across various cities and regions in the Kingdom during the first half of 2026. This initiative aims to increase urban readiness for rainy weather, reduce water accumulation, and ensure the safety of residents and the continuity of municipal services.

The completed works include approximately 115,000 meters of main networks and 85,000 meters of secondary networks, averaging more than one kilometer of construction per day. The project also involved the installation of over 10,200 meters of box culverts, 4,900 meters of drainage channels, and the construction of 24 retaining walls.

To support these infrastructure developments, more than 87,500 cubic meters of reinforced concrete were utilized. The Ministry is working alongside local municipalities to direct infrastructure projects based on the specific urban and hydrological needs of each city, ensuring resources are prioritized to protect public assets and enhance urban resilience.
