Sayıştay report reveals failure in new speed camera system
A Sayıştay audit report regarding the replacement of speed detection camera systems has revealed significant software and implementation failures. The report indicates that due to these issues, approximately 600,334,571.18 TL in speeding violation fines could not be processed, potentially resulting in a public loss.
The transition involved replacing an older system, originally involving Sensys Gatso Netherlands B. V., with a new system supplied by Radarsan. While 134,486,034.67 TL has been paid to Radarsan for 150 cameras, the report notes that 20 mobile cameras have not yet been delivered or activated. Furthermore, the new system's software integration remains incomplete, preventing detected violations from being converted into fines.
CTP Member of Parliament Fazilet Özdenefe highlighted that the audit findings suggest potential criminal liability for negligence or misconduct. She noted a lack of documentation explaining why the previous system was replaced and pointed out discrepancies in the inventory of the older equipment. The findings are expected to be reviewed by the relevant parliamentary committee and may be referred to the Legal Department.
