SBB rail closures scheduled between Zürich Oerlikon and Bassersdorf

Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) will implement a weekend rail closure from Friday, September 25, 2026, at 10:15 PM, until Monday, September 28, 2026, at 5:15 AM. The disruption is due to construction work to expand the section between Opfikon and Kloten into a continuous double track and the modernization of Opfikon station.

No regular trains will run between Zürich Oerlikon and Bassersdorf during this period. Regional lines S7 and SN7 will be diverted in both directions, making extraordinary stops at Zürich Flughafen, while skipping stops at Opfikon, Kloten Balsberg, and Kloten. SBB will provide replacement buses for these segments, stopping at Glattbrugg, Post (instead of Opfikon station), Kloten Balsberg, and Kloten.

Long-distance services are also affected. IR36 trains running between Zürich Flughafen and Basel SBB will depart from Zürich Flughafen two minutes earlier than scheduled (at minute xx.54 instead of xx.56). Travelers are advised to check updated connections via the SBB website or mobile app.
