SBI Securities to accept advance Kodomo NISA applications from October
SBI Securities will begin accepting advance applications for the new ‘Kodomo NISA’ program starting October 1, 2026. This initiative prepares for the official launch of the tax-exempt investment system in January 2027.
The Kodomo NISA is a small-sum investment tax-exemption system designed for children aged 0 to 17. It allows for the tax-free management of investment trusts within the NISA accumulation investment quota, with an annual limit of 600,000 yen and a total lifetime limit of 6 million yen. Funds are generally restricted from withdrawal until the child reaches age 12. Upon turning 18, the account automatically transitions to an adult NISA account.
Existing users with a minor account at SBI Securities can apply by uploading identity verification documents through the application screen. Those without a minor account can apply for one through a legal guardian’s account. To support family asset management, SBI Securities is also enhancing its ‘SBI Securities Plus’ app with a parent-child account switching feature scheduled for July 2026.
