SBT loses ground to Band in São Paulo ratings as Luara Castilho joins SBT Brasil

Luara Castilho, a journalist from SBT News, was promoted to become the weekend presenter of the local news program SBT Cidades and a regular member of the national newscast SBT Brasil, where she will also anchor the weather segment.

In the latest Kantar Ibope Media measurement for Greater São Paulo, the SBT Cidades broadcast fell to fourth place with an average rating of 2.5 points, overtaken by Band’s news programs which recorded 2.9 points. The drop follows an initial debut rating of 3.3 points three days earlier, representing a decline of about 24 %. The loss ends a brief period in which SBT Cidades had led the time slot.

The ratings shift highlights growing competition between Brazil’s major free‑to‑air networks, while SBT seeks to strengthen its lineup through personnel changes such as Castilho’s new role.
