Scania expands defense and commercial vehicle presence globally
Swedish manufacturer Scania is strengthening its position in both the defense and heavy-duty commercial sectors. In the defense market, the company provides modular solutions and V8 engines to over twenty NATO ministries of defense. Petr Smola of Scania noted that while the Czech army's nearly fifty vehicles represent a small portion of total volume, they provide significant prestige. Scania's modular production system allows for diverse configurations, ranging from container carriers to weapon system transporters, supported by a global service network.
In the commercial sector, Scania is expanding its footprint in the Australian heavy-duty truck market. The company has introduced new models to its Fleetline range, including Day Cab and Sleeper Cab options powered by Super 13 six-cylinder engines. Additionally, Scania unveiled an upgraded 770hp V8 S-Series Big Cab, which features lightweight, fuel-saving axles and increased fuel tank capacity for extended range. The company is focusing on imminent delivery and fixed-specification cabs to appeal to Australian operators.
