Scania global business and R&D expansion
Overview
Scania is expanding its international presence across the defense and commercial vehicle sectors. The company provides modular defense solutions and V8 engines to over twenty NATO ministries of defense and is growing its heavy-duty truck footprint in Australia with new Fleetline and S-Series models.
To support future technologies, Scania has inaugurated a SEK 975 million research and development proving ground in Södertälje, Sweden. This 85-hectare facility is designed to accelerate the development of autonomous transport, advanced driver assistance systems, and electric trucks.
This strategic expansion follows a period of revenue growth, with third-quarter sales increasing by 5% to SEK 49.1 billion. While overall order intake saw a slight decline, the company reported a significant rise in battery-electric vehicle orders compared to the previous year.
