Scania wins Rio Grande do Sul award, launches Brazil’s first gas‑powered low‑floor bus

Scania and its dealer Brasdiesel were honored with the “Preferência do Transporte e Logística” award by the Rio Grande do Sul transport union, receiving first‑place trophies for heavy‑vehicle manufacturing and truck dealership categories. Brasdiesel’s general sales manager Marcos Radaelli said the recognition reinforces the company’s commitment to excellence and the development of road freight transport in the state.

In a separate initiative, Scania unveiled a prototype low‑floor city bus powered by a 9‑litre biometane‑fuelled gas engine, developed with bodybuilder Caio for São Paulo’s public‑transport network. The K 280 4×2 Millennium bus can carry up to 88 passengers, travel up to 350 km on a full tank and features carbon‑fiber gas cylinders for higher storage safety. Scania’s sales manager Mauricio Lucena highlighted the project as part of the city’s broader decarbonisation strategy for urban mobility.
