Schattdorf paraglider crashes into cable car line

A 63-year-old Swiss paraglider sustained serious injuries after colliding with a cable of the Haldi cable car in Schattdorf on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The accident occurred shortly after 4:00 p.m. while the pilot was flying from Haldi toward the village center.

Following the collision, the paraglider collapsed from a height of approximately 10 to 15 meters. Witnesses provided first aid at the scene before emergency services arrived.

The victim was airlifted to a hospital by Rega. The Uri Cantonal Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident under the direction of the Federal Office of Civil Aviation.
