Balkan regions face water and power disruptions

Multiple regions in the Balkans are facing utility disruptions due to infrastructure issues and environmental factors. In Montenegro, coastal areas like Herceg Novi have seen swimming bans due to E. coli and enterococci levels exceeding safety limits. Additionally, Nikšić has implemented water restrictions in suburban settlements to manage low source yields and irregular consumption, while officials have advised cleaning school plumbing systems after summer breaks.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, major repairs on a 50-year-old steel pipeline in Sarajevo have caused widespread water outages across numerous neighborhoods, with service expected to normalize in the late evening. Similarly, Mostar has scheduled water service suspensions for repairs near the Old Bridge.

In Serbia, the military is deploying water tankers to assist households in Valjevo and Sjenica facing severe drought. Meanwhile, various municipalities across Montenegro and Croatia are managing scheduled electricity and water maintenance, affecting several towns and villages.
