Schüler Union warns of potential unrest at upcoming protests

Jakob Hornhues, chairman of the conservative Schüler Union, has warned of potential riots during upcoming protests in Germany. He called for a joint security summit between federal and state governments to ensure coordinated responses, suggesting that authorities look to France as a model for coordination.

Hornhues expressed concern that the organizing group, ‘Gen Z regelt’, consisting of individuals aged 18 to 28, may lack the capacity to maintain order. He specifically warned of potential infiltration by the Antifa and left-wing autonomous scenes, suggesting that left-wing extremists might attempt to co-opt the protests.

While Hornhues advocated for strict regulations, he rejected a proposal from the Junge Union Berlin-Mitte to deploy the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) against the protesters, calling such a suggestion ‘completely absurd’. He noted that specialized police units already possess the necessary equipment to handle intense protest situations.
