Schools in Poland and Lithuania begin 2026/2027 academic year
The 2026/2027 school year has officially commenced across various regions in Poland and Lithuania. In Poland, numerous municipalities held ceremonies to welcome students and celebrate professional milestones for educators. In Mielec, 40 teachers received professional advancement appointments, while in Dębica, 16 teachers were honored. Other regional updates include the opening of a new gymnasium in Barwałd Średni, funded by the Olimpia Program, and significant infrastructure investments, such as a planned 30 million PLN expansion for an agricultural school in Rudna.
In Lithuania, the Syrokomla Gymnasium in Vilnius held its inaugural ceremony, attended by the Polish Consul in Vilnius, Zbigniew Ciosek, who highlighted Polish support for Polish-language education in the country.
While most schools opened on September 1, some faced delays due to ongoing renovations, such as Primary School No. 5 in Garwolin, where classes were postponed to September 7 due to electrical installation modernization. The academic calendar for the year is set to run until June 25, 2027, with various examination dates scheduled for May.
